Estate Planning and Probate

Our firm provides experienced counsel to address the needs of business owners, couples and individuals with regard to Estate Planning & Probate, including questions involving estate taxation, probate litigation, guardianship, and health care advanced directives.

Small Business and Employment

For the business owner, there are myriad questions which arise from contracts with vendors, customers and subcontractors, issues concerning confidentiality of business information and arriving or departing employees, office leases, and basic trade name and copyright questions. We advise businesses in a timely fashion as their issues arise, and help them avoid future problems. We have represented employers enforcing employment agreements (including noncompetes) in court, including successfully obtaining an injunction and damages, and related matters.

We also represent executives and employees with regard to employment and severance agreements, including representation before the MCAD, successful suit in court concerning unpaid wages, and confidential negotiations concerning severance agreements and release of discrimination claims under state and federal discrimination statutes. We have also defended former employees concerning unfair enforcement of employment or severance agreements.

Real Estate

Real estate issues almost invariable require the assistance of an experienced attorney. Whether in respect to commercial matters or personal real estate issues, we can assist.

For many, buying or selling a home is the largest single financial transaction of a lifetime. Brokers and bankers provide valuable advice in their fields but they are no substitute for unbiased legal advice from an attorney. Similar concerns arise in the purchase or sale of commercial real estate or leasing new office space for a business. We can provide advice based upon broad experience in this area.

General Legal Questions and Litigation

Do you have legal questions in other areas? We may be able to help, or to provide you with the names of other attorneys competent in a specific area.

We also represent our clients in civil or probate litigation when it cannot be avoided. Litigation is generally limited to controversies involving the practice areas outlined above.
